HISTÓRICO

O grupo de estudos da obesidade iniciou suas atividades em 1994, sob coordenação da Profª. Drª. Ana R. Dâmaso, na UNIFESP – Programa de Pós Graduação em Nutrição – em parceria com a Escola de Educação Física da USP. Desde então, a principal formação do grupo incluiu intervenções interdisciplinares nas áreas de Clínica Médica, Psicologia, Nutrição, Educação Física e mais recentemente a Fisioterapia. Visa principalmente mudanças no estilo de vida e controle da obesidade e suas várias co-morbidades. 



O modelo utilizado foi aprimorado com base na Terapia Interdisciplinar para Obesidade Mórbida da Alemanha – INSULA Adipositas Rehabilitation Zentrun – e no Modelo Italiano. 



A partir do modelo já existente, o grupo sofreu uma expansão para o campus da UNIFESP - Baixada Santista (Programa de Pós Graduação Interdisciplinar em Ciências da Saúde). Com objetivos similares, o projeto em Santos e região, coordenado pela Profa. Dra. Danielle Arisa Caranti, propõe um trabalho com um público alvo diferente – adultos obesos –, devido às características demográficas da cidade.
